Newquay Surf School
Watergate Bay & Newquay Bay
Our surf school is based from Newquay Bay and Watergate Bay. We operate our surf lessons and surf coaching at Towan, Great Western and Watergate Bay beaches, depending on the surf conditions and level of surfers. We will inform you in advance of your surfing lessons as to which Newquay surf spot will be best for you.
If you are staying at Watergate Bay then we will favor to run your surfing lessons at this beach over the Newquay beaches.
Watergate Bay is a fantastic location to learn to surf. The long sandy beach is home to Watergate Bay Surf Club and Jamie Oliver's 15 restaurant. Heading back towards Newquay you will find at low tide, a long crescent shaped bay called Newquay Bay. At high tide this bay becomes four smaller bays, Towan, Great Western, Tolcarne and Lusty Glaze.
At both Newquay Bay and Watergate Bay you will have access to many surf shops, bars and great restaurants and our coaches can recommend a number of options to ensure that your stay in our town is an awesome experience.
Newquay is the ideal spot to learn to surf, with over 11 beaches, in under seven miles of stunning Cornish coastline. You can surf all year round thanks to the warm current called the "Gulf Stream", however it is the months of Spring and Autumn that really matter, with great weather and fun surf most days. The summer months are fantastic for new surfers with water temperatures reaching 18c!
